Stationary phase -water

The stationary phase is the water trapped blw the cellulose fibresof the paper. The relatively polar molecules in the solid support material(ex-cellulose,silica,alumina etc) adsorb water molecules so well that they will remain stationary

Mobile phase - organic solvents( ex . Ethyl acetate, butanol, acetic acid, methanol etc)

stationary phase in paper chromatography is water. The stationary phase is the water trapped between the cellulose fibers of the paper. The mobile phase is a developingsolution that travels up the stationary phase, carrying the samples with it.
